Provide mentoring and coaching skills to boys and girls 5-18 in the areas of Education, Health, Arts and Crafts, Sports, and “Social Activities, empowering them to become young community leaders.”
Support projects that include Haitian media and highlight their involvement in neighborhood programs.
Encourage local non-profit organizations to maintain a calendar of events and provide a public forum for dialogue.

The Kuki Ndiho Foundation helps rebuild the lives of orphans as well as other children and young adults who have been scarred by the tragic 1994 genocide and its aftermath. It creates within a unique educational and cultural framework, the opportunity to build individual and social developmental momentum and contribute resources, knowledge and support to the recovering communities. We are dedicated to the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual healing and cultivation of the lives of the thousands who survived by producing a vast array of projects which include creating and managing orphanages, education and training programs, social services, community centers, art therapy centers as well as numerous media activism campaigns, films and web sites. These projects will also incorporate and help develop curricula for students around the world to learn of our efforts with Rwandan orphans.

Journalism and Multimedia Education

For 14 years, SNN has demonstrated its capabilities to execute programs that afford students the opportunity to grow in their development. SNN has longstanding collaborations with community-based, borough and citywide not-for-profit organizations, governmental agencies and institutions providing social services vital to our target population. Areas of support include counseling, career development family living organizations and a variety of other educational groups.

SNN’s Journalism-in-Education Program focuses on local elementary and middle schools in the economically underdeveloped Bedford Stuyvesant community in Brooklyn. Because area school districts face budget restrictions, they are often unable to provide students with outlets that give them a chance to excel.

The program teaches students:

• journalism basics
• investigative reporting and interviewing
• journalism writing
• copy editing
• broadcast and new media production.

Cultivating art for its therapeutic attributes, Adriala Gallery and its works, are available to all not-for-profit, philanthropic, charitable, and community-based organizations. The unique services of Adriala Gallery seek to include the exhibition of fine art within all healthcare facilities, as well as the installation of works throughout various social justice, educational and advocacy programs.  The expertise of Adriala Gallery is available to the above mentioned institutions’  fund-raising enterprises and membership.

APHEC HISTORY
APHEC International, Inc. was founded in 1990 by Nurse Anna Pierre, who saw the need to educate the Haitian Community of South Florida, during the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

As a Registered Nurse working at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, along with other Healthcare professionals, she witnessed at first hand that a lack of proper health education was a major factor in the manner the community and Healthcare providers responded to the disease. During her numerous concert appearances in Miami, Haiti, and throughout the States, she also seized the opportunity to relay messages on the importance of abstinence and the use of condoms by the sexually active members of her audience. In February 1996, APHEC was incorporated as a not for-profit Community-Based Organization and Ms. Pierre, with the support of a few business owners in the community, started a radio program “Radio Nou”(Our Radio). During this program she dedicated a segment to Health education, in addition to broadcasting public service announcements (PSAs) concerning HIV/AIDS. Soon, the broadcasts expanded to diabetes. While attending Florida International University in pursuance of her Master’s degree in Public Health, she learned more about the diseases that are destroying the community and realized that she needed to do more.

Born in Jamaica and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, a truly multicultural garden flowered with immigrants from all around the world, Stewart, whose own family hails from the beautiful island of Jamaica, knows what it is like to have roots in many places, many traditions, interacting with many kinds of people.
